In September 935 (in older sources 929) a group of nobles—allied with Wenceslas's younger brother Boleslaw—plotted to kill the Duke. After Boleslaw invited Wenceslas I to the feast of Saints Cosmas and Damian in Stara Boleslaw, three of Boleslaw's companions murdered Wenceslas on his way to church after a quarrel between him and his brother. Boleslaw thus succeeded him as the Duke of Bohemia.

 

According to Cosmas's Chronicle, one of Boleslaw's sons was born on the day of Wenceslas's death, and because of the ominous circumstance of his birth the infant was named Strachkwas, which means "a dreadful feast".

 

On 940, the prince of the Slezanie, who was baptized as Peter united Silesia and expelled the Bohemians from Silesia.

 

On 945 Peter annexed the lands of the Vistulans and the Lendians which weakened the Bohemians completely, he declared the independence of his own realm.

 

The town of Wratislaw(Wroclaw) is renamed as Petropolis or Piotrow in honor of Peter, his country was initially called as State of Petropolis(Piotrow)(Petersberg) but later was changed to Lechia, his son, Wojciech Solomon later would marry Dobrawa of Bohemia.

 

Due to the defeat of Bohemia under the hands of the Lechians the Holy Roman Emperor took advantage and Occupied Bohemia.

 

The Kingdom of Lechia pushed the tribe of Polans ruled by Mieszko north to Pomerania and Converted to Judaism.
